Privacy Policy

From 25th May 2018 General Data Protection Regulation (GDRP) legislation comes into effect. GDPR replaces current data protection legislation. Data Protection Act 1998.

Under GDPR you have rights as an individual which you can exercise in relation to the information I hold about you. GDPR requires that I, Jane Skinner, obtain consent to hold Personal Information about the clients with whom I am working.

The information on the ‘Client Information’ form you complete prior or during our first session is held on paper and is kept in secure locked storage. For your protection and for reasons of confidentiality, I keep minimal session notes. If I ask you to complete any other forms e.g. questionnaires for couples’ work, I will hold that information in hard copy only (on paper), in secure locked storage and either return them to you or destroy them at the end of therapy, unless you request otherwise. Should you email or text me, I will delete these messages after reading and if relevant any saved emails will be kept on hard copy and stored securely.

I will use these details in the service of our work together, including contacting you about appointments and running my practice. I will not contact you for any other reason. I will never sell client personal information to a third-party organisation. I will keep this information for 3 months after the end of therapy, or when I last hear from you.

You have the right to ask to see the information I hold about you. Please ask me and you can view it in a session. You can ask me to change any information that I hold about you that is incorrect. You have the right to ask me to delete information that I hold about you.

I may update this policy from time to time, so please check back here from time to time to ensure that you continue to be comfortable with the measures that I am taking to protect your privacy.

By continuing to use my website and services you'll be agreeing to the new terms of service and privacy policy. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you wish to complain about how I handle your data, in the first instance please contact me, Jane Skinner, as Data Controller. If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction you can contact the Information Commissioners Office or 0303 123 1113.
